Music is provided by Patri Satish Kumar, a musician from the great Carnatic tradition who performs with the percussionists Ghatam V Suresh and Amrit on khanjira.

Then Pravin Godkhindi and Surpreet Deshpande follow with of beautiful ragas – one of the key structure of Indian music, on basuri flute and tabla, India’s iconic percussion drums.

On 11th November 2017 the Darbar Festival of Sitar & Dance comes to the stage at the Sadler’s Wells theatre. This is a rare opportunity to see 2 internationally acclaimed dance artists. Kathak dancer Aditi Mangaldas, and bharatanatyam soloist Mavin Khoo who performs with vocalist OS Arun, plus one of India’s most distinctive sitarist of her generation Shahana Banerjee with Surpreet Deshpande on tabla.

International Bharata Natyam soloist Mavin Khoo presents a newly devised solo that delves into a journey merging the exploration of Shringara (love) through emotive eroticism with a spiritual offering of Self. Khoo has created a niche as one of few male soloist who reinterpret the female protagonist’s voice within a contemporary sensibility. Focusing on the secular aspect of the repertoire, the evening is part of an ongoing collaboration with vocalist OS Arun, creating an original structure for the evening, challenging the relationship between music and dance. Tickets for this one night only event are now on sale from £36.00.

Ragas, Sarod & Fiery Dance is at the Sadler’s Wells on Friday 10th November 2017 and brings a triple bill of dynamic new talents with international star of bharatanatyam, Mythili Prakash and noted kathak performer Dheerandra Tiwari, plus a music concert by a remarkable Debasmita Bhattacharya on the emotive sarod joined by Gurdain Rayatt on tabla. Tickets for this night are now on sale, also with a starting price of £36.0.
