Opera North’s award-winning production of Cole Porter’s Broadway comedy classic comes to London for the very first time, at the iconic London Coliseum.

A charming homage to the sparkling wit of Shakespeare and an irresistible celebration of the joy and madness of working in theatre, Cole Porter’s witty, jazz-inflected score features hit after hit, with show-stopping numbers including ‘Another Op’nin’ Another Show,’ ‘Brush Up Your Shakespeare,’ ‘Always True to You in My Fashion’ and ‘Too Darn Hot.’

The musical is set on the opening night of a musical adaption of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, when actor-manager Fred Graham and his leading lady – and ex-wife – Lilli Vanessi are caught up in endless arguments which spill over into the performance.

The casting has now been announced for this upcoming production of Cole Porter’s Kiss Me, Kate at the London Coliseum.

Stephanie Corley, who has previously appeared in Opera North’s The Merry Widow, will play Lilli Vanessi/Kate, and Quirijn de Lang will play Fred Graham/Petruchio, the role he played in Opera North’s original 2015 production.

Zoë Rainey, who appeared in the West End as Milo Davenport in An American in Paris, will play Lois Lane, a cast member who catches Fred’s attention. Alan Burkitt will play Bill Calhoun/Lucentio, a role he played in the Welsh National Opera’s production in 2016.

Joseph Shovelton and John Savournin will play two gangsters who turn up to collect a $10,000 IOU in Fred’s name. The cast also includes Aiesha Pease, Stephanie Anelli, James Hayes, Jack Wilcox and Malcom Ridley.

Currently we have tickets available for 10 days only from 20th – 30th June 2018, at a starting price of just £13.00.
