Arlene

Arlene Phillips comes to the stage of the Duchess Theatre for one night only, 20th November 2017 to bring us stories from behind the scenes of award-winning musicals, music videos, dance group Hot Gossip, TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, films and dance extravaganzas. Arlene brings us the glitz, glamour and gossip as she talks with Jacquie Storey about her lifetime in dance.

Although Arlene had been involved in dance from a very early age, she came to the public’s notice with the creation of Hot Gossip, who performed on the stage of a London nightclub before appearing on the Kenny Everett Video Show.  Saucy dances, risque costumes and moral protests all helped the public to become aware of the dance group who went on to have their own TV show, recorded a hit record and toured the world.

Since that early success Arlene has worked for films in both the UK and the USA including Annie, Monty Python’s Meaning of Life, Highlander and The Wind In The Willows, amongst others. Additionally, she has worked on music videos with legends such as The Bee Gees, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Elton John, George Michael, and the list just goes on, and on. TV has also provided Arlene with numerous stages to work on, including The Hot Shoe Show and a Tina Turner Special. Live events such as global productions of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance and the role of Director of Choreography for the Manchester XVII Commonwealth Games in 2002 have also been a large part of her work.

In the UK one of Arlene’s more recent TV successes must surely be as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing during the first 6 series, including as the “dance expert” on Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two on BBC2.

Her achievements within the area of dance, choreography and entertainment are far too many to mention – some of the information above is taken from her website, www.arlenephillips.com and if you wish to read more information, we would suggest that you visit her official site.

In the meantime, Arlene: Glitz, Glamour, Gossip tickets are now on sale for this 1-night show, 20th November 2017.
