We have tickets for a rare appearance by The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band [aka The Bonzo Dog Band]. They were created originally in the 1960s, bringing together Sam Spoons,  Vivian Stanshall, Neil, Innes, Rodney Desborough Slater, Roger Ruskin Spear, Larry Smith, Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell and Bob Kerr. They came to the notice of the public via a 1968 ITV comedy show called Do Not Adjust Your Set.

This one day only event, on 19th November 2016 at the London Palladium features original members Rodney Slater, Sam Spoons, “Legs” Larry Smith, Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell and Bob Kerr, and they will be joined by Goodies legend Tim Brooke-Taylor.

Additional artists performing will include the 15-piece Keen Sham Town Band brass ensemble and The Desperate Men surrealist troupe.  Further guests are yet to be announced. The evening will provide a “mini-festival” in just 2 hours on the stage at the Palladium.

The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band re-formed after a period of limbo lasting some 35 years.  The surviving original members, including Bob Kerr were all part of this re-formed band. When they went back on the road their performances were well received and this encouraged them to undertake nationwide tours, selling out and getting rave reviews.

With the assistance of some new talent, which included Stephen Fry, Phill Jupitus and Adrian Edmondson, they recorded a new album in 2007. In 2015 they again decided that it was time to give it all up and parted to go their separate ways.

Bob Kerr and Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell decided that they were enjoying the performance too much to give it up, and decided to launch “The Bonzomania Show” which was to focus primarily on the vaudeville aspect.

Some of the songs you will hear will include Jollity Farm, Hunting Tigers, My Brother Makes The Noises For The Talkies, I’m The Urban Spaceman, Doctor Jazz, Button Up Your Overcoat, A Room With A View, The Sheik Of Araby, Home In Pasedena, You’re Driving Me Crazy, Cocktails For Two, Winchester Cathedral, You Always Hurt The One You Love, Crazy Words Crazy Tune along with other Bonzo favourites.

This is truly a “one-off-spectacular” so be sure not to miss it.  We have tickets on sale now.
