Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Apollo Theatre will run from 13th July to 7th October 2017, with press night on 24th July.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a play by Tennessee Williams, and was a film in 1958 starring  Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie the Cat, Paul Newman as Brick Pollitt and Burl Ives as Harvey “Big Daddy” Pollitt. The original stage production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof opened on Broadway March 24, 1955, with Ives playing the same role as he subsequently played in the film.

The truth hurts. On a steamy night in Mississippi, a Southern family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real – and which will win out? Sienna Miller stars as Maggie alongside Jack O’Connell (Unbroken, Money Monster) as Brick.

A return to the stage for director Benedict Andrews following his smash hit production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Tennessee Williams’ searing, poetic story of a family’s fight for survival is a twentieth century masterpiece.

Tickets for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof are now on sale, currently priced at £26.00.
