Thank goodness that the world did allow Adrian Lester to become an actor!  He has spoken about acting and dance not being “encouraged” during his earlier education and school days.

We have Lester to thank for thrilling us with several productions to date.  His roles in TV serial Hustle, whilst may not be the most difficult and technical role he has undertaken, served to entertain the audience. Other TV roles include Girlfriends in the US, The Ghost Squad, Bonekickers and Merlin.

Film credits include Primary Colors, for which he gained a Chicago Film Critis Association nomination for Most Promising Actor; Kenneth Branagh’s Love’s Labour’s Lost; The Day After Tomorrow; Spider Man 3.

Following on from his own experiences at school he feels that it is very important for young, aspiring actors to be given opportunities.  Without opportunity it is of no importance how good or bad an actor or performer anyone is.  Local theatres play an immensely important part in allowing young (and older) talent to become involved and learn their craft.

It is the author of this article’s opinion that acting can bring out many talents and skills that are not necessarily fully nurtured throughout mainstream educational facilities, but are often a perfect way for those who just don’t “enjoy” or “excel” at school to pursue very worthwhile and rewarding careers.

Speaking in a recent interview Lester spoke about his part in the 1994 all-male version of As You Like It and his thoughts on men playing female roles.
