We are pleased to bring to you The Seagull at the Lyric Hammersmith from 11th October to 4th November 2017.

This is Chekhov’s story of unrequited love, jealousy, guns, vodka and art!  This latest version of Chekhov’s masterpiece is by Olivier-award winning playwright Simon Stephens, with direction from Sean Holmes.  Lesley Sharp plays one of the main 4 characters, Irina Arkadina – the fading actress.

The play brings together romance, love triangles, the shooting of a seagull (!). Set in Russia, the play was written by Chekhov in 1895 and was first seen on the stage in 1896 when the first performance was a famous failure.

Switching effortlessly between the ridiculous and the profound The Seagull forensically examines the transcendence and destructiveness of love. The burning need to create Art and how harshly that need can be crushed permeates throughout the play.

The Seagull at the Lyric Hammersmith tickets are now on sale staring at just £25.
