The Peacock Theatre brings us Vamos Cuba for a short summer run from 12th July to 19th August 2017. This spectacular is brought to us by choreographer Nilda Guerra, who is Director & Choreographer for Ballet Rakatan. Nilda was born in Cuba, graduated from the Escuela Vocacional de Arte in Cuba in 1993 and started her professional career as a dancer in Teatro Lirico de la Habana. Her first chance to display her choreographic skills was with the touring company Lady Salsa, and she then started her own dance company. Ballet Rakatan is now one of Cuba’s most important dance companies and performs globally. Nilda is the creative behind Havana Rakatan which had a 6 year run in the West End and a Broadway debut.
Vamos Cuba is set in a chaotic Havana airport – a place of partings, reunitings, new beginnings, old meetings, reality and dreams. This extravaganza brings to us the joy, passion and humour of the Cuban spirit. With a mix of dance, from traditional to modern, with salsa, rumba, cha-cha-cha and reggaeton; a live band and a cast of some of the hottest dancers Cuba has to offer, this will be a colourful and entertaining show for all dance lovers.
