Clarke Peters: 'Songs I Love to Sing'

Well-known to cult TV box-set viewers for his role as The Wire's Detective Lester Freamon, Clarke Peters is an accomplished actor, writer, director and singer. He earned a 1992 Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical for writing the acclaimed Broadway revue Five Guys Named Moe, as well as an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment, and Pick of the Fringe in Edinburgh. Peters picked up a Theatre World Award for his 1999 performance in The Iceman Cometh on Broadway. He was Billy Flynn in the revival of Chicago in 2000 / 2003, and starred as Porgy in the original production of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, for which he was nominated for an Olivier for Best Actor In Musical. He is currently shooting a biopic of soul legend Marvin Gaye. Just as the title suggests, in Songs I Love To Sing exemplary singer and showman Peters enters an intimate setting to perform an eclectic selection of songs that resonate with him personally - and will strike a chord with you too. His focus is on songs he's performed on the London stage, from shows including Blues in the Night, Porgy and Bess, The Witches of Eastwick, Chicago, Chess and Five Guys Named Moe.
