After bringing Sadler’s Wells a succession of sumptuous story-ballets, including the South Bank Sky Arts Dance Award-winning 1984 and the critically acclaimed Casanova, Northern Ballet returns with Jane Eyre.
Cathy Marston’s adaptation of the ultimate gothic romance follows Charlotte Brontë’s “poor, obscure, plain, and little” heroine as she faces a world which doesn’t offer her much in the way of kindness.
After accepting a position to teach at Thornfield Hall, the home of the mysterious Mr Rochester, dark secrets unfold and hidden desires are uncovered, with an original score by Philip Feeney, played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
