In a career which has seen remarkable highs – 1 million sales of her debut album “Heaven”, comparisons with her heroes Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Dusty Springfield and Macy Gray, plaudits from Adele, every major critic in the UK, Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme (the first artist from the X Factor ever to appear on the show), Rebecca herself freely admits that such perfectionism hasn’t come without a price. Her second album ‘Freedom” came after a protracted period of huge turmoil as Rebecca found out the hard way that the music industry wasn’t always just about the music. That the album appeared so stridently assertive was an inevitable result of a long and painful gestation period where this artist questioned everything in her creative and professional life. ‘Freedom’ was followed by ‘Lady Sings The Blues’ which witnessed Rebecca pay homage to Billie Holiday in a critically acclaimed cover album. All three of Rebecca’s albums, released on RCA records, have charted in the top 10 in The Official Chart and gone on to be showcased across three sold-out UK tours and a 2013 tour across the US. 2015, alone, witnessed Rebecca travel around the world to perform, most notably the Festival of Creativity held in Shanghai in March where Rebecca sang in front of Prince William as well as performing at the Beiteddeine Festival in Lebanon in August. Rebecca has also graced the same stage as Burt Bacharach at a special event curated by the man himself and performed at the VE Day celebrations at the Horse Guard’s Parade and BBC Proms In The Park in Belfast. With her fourth studio album poised to be released later this year, Rebecca has an exciting 2016 on the horizon.
