Previews for the new production of the musical Falsettos take place on Broadway tonight (29th September 2016) with the official opening scheduled for 27th October, with a planned run through to 8th January 2017.

Comedy and drama are both part of this musical, as Marvin struggles to form a tight knit family out of his ex-wife, new boyfriend, adolescent son, psychiatrist and neighbours amongst others. With a whole host of life changes as well he must face up to his views on love, responsibility and being a man.

Falsettos originally appeared off-Broadway and after success on that stage, moved to Broadway in 1992 when it then won Tony Awards for both Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. It was also received another 5 nominations, including Best Musical.

The cast for Falsettos includes Stephanie J. Block, Christian Borle, Andrew Rannells, Anthony Rosenthal, Tracie Thoms, Brandon Uranowitz and Betsy Wolfe.

The musical, written by James Lapine and William Finn will be directed by James Lapine, at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway. This revival is a collaboration between Jujamcyn Theatres (producer Jordan Roth) and Lincoln Center Theater (producer Andre Bishop).  Andre Bishop was also the producer of another of Finn and Lapine’s musical March of the Falsettos in 1981. Choreography will be the responsibility of Spencer Liff, and other members of the creative cast include David Rockwell, Jennifer Caprio, Jeff Croiter, Dan Moses Schreier, Vadim Feichtner and Michael Starobin.
