Labour of Love

Martin Freeman and Sarah Lancashire will star in the world premiere of James Graham’s new play, Labour of Love, at the Noel Coward Theatre from September this year, but for 11 weeks only. This production is brought to us by Michael Grandage Company and Headlong.

This is a political comedy and it brings together James Graham and director Jeremy Herrin after their previous collaboration on This House. Very topically, Labour MP David Lyons cares about modernisation and “electability”… his constituency agent, Jean Whittaker cares about principles and her community. Set away from the Westminster bubble in the party’s traditional northern heartlands, this is a clash of philosophy, culture and class against the backdrop of the Labour Party over 25 years as it moves from Kinnock through Blair into Corbyn… and beyond?

This is such a timely production to bring to London’s West End at this time, who knows where the country will be politically by September this year, and with Brexit negotiations added to the mix we are definitely living in interesting political times with the current hung parliament as well!

We have Labour of Love tickets now on sale, from 15th September, through to 2nd December (previews will run from 15th – 23rd September) and tickets currently starting at £50.
